As everyone has heard, the UK Autumn was announced by Chancellor Philip Hammond on the 23rd of November 2016. The funding that has been announced for certain changes in the UK economy has affected some more than others. With some statements made it is clear the construction industry will be indirectly affected in more ways than one.
Some main vocal points of the statement were focused on digital infrastructure and affordable housing.
Chancellor Philip Hammond has acknowledged that the digital infrastructure for the UK needs investment, this is to accommodate our future transport, business and lifestyle needs. Infrastructure and innovation has been at the forefront of the 2016 autumn statement. The Chancellor is here quoted “we will invest over £1 billion in our digital infrastructure to catalyse private investment in fibre networks.” This will mean that a lot of construction will need to take place on our streets to dig up old cables and replace them with the new and improved fibre optic cables, this will not be an easy task to undertake and a lot of construction companies will be sub-contracted to help in the efforts of providing such a dramatic change to the digital infrastructure.
A task such as this will require a lot of man power and equipment power, this is why Fairport are manufacturing only the highest quality floor saws and hydraulic rammers. This includes the FFS floor saw that is Efficient and fast cutting optimised, with weight over the blade and comes with either a 9 or 13 HP engine. With FFS20 blades that can be mounted either side of the saw allowing edge cutting in either direction to get the job done efficiently. This also includes the petrol and diesel trench rammers that Fairport manufactures. They provide hard-hitting compaction with operator comfort at their focus, they both provide low noise and vibration to provide the most comfort possible.
Another focus point of the autumn statement was affordable housing, this has been on the government radar for a while, with much controversy around the actions taken to provide affordable housing to the forever growing population.
This has been addressed in the autumn statement, “the challenge of delivering the housing we so desperately need in the places where it is currently least affordable is not a new one…”
The chancellor goes on to later say that the effect of unaffordable housing is an urgent one. It was proposed that affordable housing will be constructed in areas that have the greatest need for it, again, this will affect the construction industry as more contractors will be brought in to help provide the affordable housing so desperately needed in such a time.
Fairport has made it a point to focus on creating a new mixer for such a task that will be available to purchase from February 2017. Fairport would like to do their part in helping in such tasks by providing only the best equipment to construction teams. Fairport is constantly testing and developing equipment to ensure that it is the best money can buy.
